VUE: Multiviewer Control Features

VUE TOUCH 2 Multiviewer Control

The VUE-TOUCH-2's compact screen doesn't compromise on functionality. Optimize your multiviewer workflow with VUE.

Pinned Router Control Workflow

Our multiviewer control is top notch. VUE will receive the specific multiviewers you need to control from MAGNUM and our asset-management features.

Features:

  • Layout Recall
  • Route into multiviewer pips
  • Route into multiviewer inputs
  • Full-screen pip's source on long-press
    • This tells the multiviewer to enter a 1x1 layout and use the source that was selected
  • Choose any pip's audio to play
  • Fire and save a multiviewer snapshot. This is the ability to configure multiple multiviewers in a single button press
  • Route a pip's source into a QC monitor (or other destination)

🎓 VUE Tutorial Series: Using Device Tags

Welcome! This 4-part video series walks you through how to use Device Tags in VUE to customize layouts and control surfaces across different operator positions. Below, you'll find a short explanation for each video.

📺 1. OverVUE

Using the same content across multiple positions, but delivering different controls is possible using Device Tags. Think of a Device Tag like a home address for your VUE — so when you "mail out" assets, they know exactly where to go.

Example: If you have three producers and each one needs a different layout, assign Device Tags to each producer's position and tag your assets accordingly.

🛠️ 2. Adding Device Tags

Head over to your Magnum web page, go to Network Discovery, then select Configuration and filter for the VUE device you want to tag.

Device tags are best added as you add VUE to your system. Also, think about your tagging schema — this is how you organize all your tags. In a production control room, a good schema might include:

  • Control room name
  • Bench number
  • Position or role (e.g., Producer, TD, AD)

🧩 3. Tagging Your Resources

Magnum controls a wide range of assets — multi-viewers, sources, destinations, and more. If you want operators to control their local devices, Device Tags make it easy by letting VUE automatically complete tag queries.

You can tag:

  • Multiviewer layouts
  • Displays
  • Snapshots
  • Salvos
  • Sources & destinations

The key is: these tags should match your schema. That's how everything connects and works seamlessly.

🔄 4. Bringing it Together by Making the Widgets Filter to Their Current Device Tags

Now that your views and resources are tagged, it's time to deliver the right controls.

In each widget's settings, select "Use current device tags". VUE will show the tag query it's using so you can verify it's working as expected.

And if you want to double-check what another VUE is seeing? Just assume its persona to preview its tag-based view.

Pro Tip: Start with a clear tagging strategy and name your views and resources consistently. It'll save you headaches later!
